What we Do

Academic Copyediting

Does your manuscript need to be formatted for publication before the journal you’re submitting to will accept it?

Do you or another author on your paper speak English as a second language, and want a thorough review for grammar and syntax?

Is it important that your work be as free from typos, errors, and inconsistencies as possible?

Our experienced copyeditors perform a thorough and context-aware review of your paper, catching not only spelling and grammar mistakes, but also potential inconsistencies in citations and references, discussions of tabular data, and variable names.

The Advantage of Experience

We’re experts at avoiding errata.

Variable Name Consistency

It may have slipped your notice that there are multiple versions of the same variable, e.g., SalesRev, SLSREV, and SalesRevenue. We find and flag those inconsistencies so you can ensure the right variable name is being used in the right place throughout the paper.

Citation Formatting

What’s the difference between (Jones and Wilson 2009) and (Jones & Wilson, 2009)? Your style guide probably tells you how your journal wants it formatted, and if not, the format you use should at least be consistent throughout the document. We take care of that for you.

Articles and Concordance Issues

The English language uses definite and indefinite articles differently from other languages, which can be challenging for ESL authors. Likewise, making sure verbs match the number and tense of their agent can be tricky in complex sentences. We check every word you write for proper grammar and syntax.

Cross-Confirmed Tabular Data

We perform as thorough a check as possible to ensure that the data values that are mentioned in the text correspond to the data that are presented in the tables. We flag any data that are seemingly inconsistent or may be incorrect. This helps eliminate typos, inadvertent rounding errors, and other issues that could lead to the need to publish an erratum.

Contextual Catches

We’re used to reading scholarly papers, and our copyediting process includes a full read of the text for content, context, and consistency. If we catch something that seems at odds with or possibly contradicts something from a previous paragraph or sentence, we will flag it for your review.
